Ooty or Udagamandalam (the Tamil version of the original name) also referred as "Queen of Hill Stations" by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Ooty located in the distance of 65km from Mudumalai is one of the famous hill stations in India . It is spread over an area of 36 sq km with an impressive hill slopes. Ooty still woos people from all over India as well as foreign countries right through summer and in the winter months. An added attraction for the tourists to Udagamandalam is the mountain train journey on a ratchet and pinion track which starts from Kallar, near Mettupalayam. Bandipur Sanctuary is the continuation of Mudumalai Sanctuary which is spread over 90 sqkm area.
